    Maxxis bighorns, D1

Hi all, after an idiot pulled out on me today i now have 1 slashed khumo tyre. At $380 to replace that one tyre i am now looking instead to replace all of my current tyres with Maxxis Bighorns. Has anyone recently purchased these or had them quoted. i am after 235/75R16. Any help is greatly appreciated so i can get an idea on how much i need to outlay. that is if the car is drivable after the weekend. We still havent found out exactly how much damage has been done. thanks guys

    Thomas.

And incase anyone is wondering, all going well only the steering needs to be adjusted, tyre replaced, wheels aligned and one small plastic panel under the left headlight needs to be replaced. you should see the other guy. (always wanted to say that) Tore the front bar and and behinds clear off the front of her car.

I just fitted some 265/75s to my Disco 1 for $311 each.
But 235s are perpetually on ebay and can be had for $240 excluding freight.
    eBay: bighorn 235-85-16

EDIT: sorry I mis-read your original post and can't find any 235-75-16 tyres.

    Have you considered KM2s?

There are some 245/75/16 for $300 here.

    I've been thinking about getting the 31x10.5 R15 KM2 for my D1.

Hey thanks guys, i have now found out they dont make a235/75/16 bighorn, only wider and taller. My biggest problem is rubbing/scrubbing if i go to a 245/75r16.

Does anyone run 245/75 r16? Any problems. My D1 is lifted 2in but has not had the gaurds trimmed.

I used to have 245s on my STOCK D1 without problem. I lifted it 2 inches and now use 265/75. I had to cut the rear guards slightly.

Its OK for people to tell you that I had them on a stock car with no problems but it really depends on what sort of off roading they did and the sort of suspension set up they had just because you have a 2" lift does not mean its the same as mateys 2" lift because springs have different rates and will compress etc differently.

I run 245/75's and I had the rear guards camel cut...but on full flex I also caught the guards I never tore them but I stoved them in a bit..yes I have a 2" lift but I also thing my car flex's fairly well as I have relocation cones as well.

I would say if your 2" is fairly stiff your probably ok as many people do run that size and dont have any dramas so you should be right. but I would say def camel cut your rear guards...I'm just letting you know that you "could possibly" catch.

and then if you get a little to excited and do catch the guards it simply means you will have an excuse to buy some flares and then once you got flares you can put even bigger tyres on.

no flares with the 245's on flexed ready to cut (i think, cant remember whether we were about to cut or they had just been cut and we were checking clearancce) guards as they did touch.

I know this isn't a true replication of it being offroad but like I said even once they were cut still caught them.

and this was the tuck with a camel cut off road I guess more possibly could of come off but I was rubbing the inside of the wheel arch as well.

really you want a set of these go on do it!!!

Hmmmmm. I only have medium duty terrafirmas in at the moment. I do want flares but they are just so darn expensive, not the mention the cost of having the guards cut etc. Ugh i wasnt expecting to have to do this yet.

keep an eye on the exchange rate....mine cost 160bux landed on a group buy from this forum....from Flatt dog in the UK

if you and your dad are handy on the tools fit them yourself...there is quite a comprehensive guide on here on how to do it. Ian and Tony did mine..its not the neatest of jobs but they had never done it before.

like I say you maybe alright..with the size...

If your really worried I will get Ian to take mine off so you can put them on yours and try them out.

Do you have wheels and tyres currently so you can at least use the car???? if not come and get my second set with the all terrains on you can borrow them if you need to
