Thanks heaps lads was just worried they might not be as good as timkin's. Gonna go have a hack at putting em in gotta do all 4 wheels so might take a while.Anyways thanks again
Cheers Jim..
Both are simply brand names, although "Timken" is sometimes used to describe tapered roller bearings such as these, since they were the original patentees of them.
It would seem that the brand description in the ebay ad was incorrect, but it is likely that they are intended for the same use and are probably, as Phillip says, of equivalent (or nearly) quality.

hi everyone have been consulting my manual on replacing my wheel bearings on my 97 disco.
I have all the parts, just need some help with what tools i need, in the manual it says i need a dial test indicator to measure the hub end float and halfshaft end float, was wondering if i need to do this or is there another way round this as i do not posses one of these. Also what size socket is the hub adjusting nut/lock-nut. Just want to make sure Ive got all the equipment to do the job before i start don't want to start pulling it apart and and find out i don't have the right tools for the job.
Also any advice from anyone that has done this before would b appreciated as i have not attempted anything like this before and am only just learning. I have managed to replace exhaust manifold gaskets on both sides without to much trouble but that's as far as my mechanical experience with land rovers goes.
cheers Jim.
I assume a D1 would be similar to a 110, if so no need for a dial test indicator.
Hi Jim,
A few things... Firstly, there's no need to start a new thread each time if you're discussing the same topic. Just keep posting in your original. It's actually beneficial for you to do so, as all those who previously posted will receive a notification that you have further questions!
Anyway, I agree with weeds, you don't need those tools. The hub nut is 52mm. You will need a drift to knock the old bearing housing out of the hub. (Can't remember the correct term for it! It's the outer ring that the bearing runs in - housing?). It will likely be stuck in pretty good.
thanks for the advice about the thread didn't know. The outer ring the bearing runs in is called the outer race.
Three separate threads on the same subject by same poster merged.
