fast idling
Hi all,
Over the last couple of days I have noticed that when I'm coming up to a set of lights or an intersection where I have to stop, the engine seems to hold the revs at about 1000rpm before dropping back to around 750-800rpm.It only holds it for maybe 20 - 30 seconds. This is with the clutch in.
Hasn't happened before.
Beast has 346K's on it.
As far as I know, nothing has been done to the engine.(tdi)
Its also starting to use a bit more diesel than usual(about 50-100k's less per tank-120 ltr),so could the injectors be on there way out.
Thanks
cheers

Check the dip stick, see if the oil level is rising. Diesel fumes from the breather being burnt in the cylinders may be fatal to the engine if it gets away.

Mine has done that ever since I changed the Alternator 2yrs ago. Mine also has a few k's in her 330,000. I did adjust the idle but it still mostly idles at about 1000rpm, and just occassionally will Drop under to around 800rpm. I have since ignored it and it seems to be running fine??
