Thread: D1 wheel lock nuts

I have a set of 5 STC8440 wheel lock nuts.
I would like to know if these are the ones that cause so much grief with Disco 1 owners or if they are an earlier design.

I believe these ones are the earlier pre-update Discovery (<94) or early Rangie lock nuts.
They have a different locking setup to the later ones, and look to have more solid metal covers compared to the later ones with alloy covers.
These would also match with the earlier non-locking wheel nuts which were solid one piece metal items, unlike the later ones which had a sort of alloy cover on them.

The later lock nuts were distinguished from the other nuts by a dimple on the cover.
