    Question re transfer cases

    hey all long time no read been problem free for a long while yay
    that is untill the weekend, i lost my transfer case

    some how i managed to smash alot off teeth from 4 or 5 of the gears and also manged to snap a shaft the holds the gears

    how easy is it to remove the transfercase??? once front and rear props and hand brake drum are off,

    Not to hard just heavy. Rave says you use a mount on a jack to lower it down....

    Hi, Done a few, one from underneath with jack, now do it from top useing engine crane, much easier once you drill the rivots out of the shift surround.

    ok then, im looking at a floor jack in my drive way, not quiet a flash work shop lol

    rivets? please do explain

    He means to get access to the top of the box you need to drill the rivets around the plate that holds transfer and gear leaver after removing the centre console. Then you bring an engine crane in through the door and wrap a sling around the box and lower.

    you cant just lower it with a jack ? like the old nissan and toyota box?
    or do you really really need to get in at the top?

    The problem is the shape of the transfer case. It will not sit flat on the jack. The Rave CD tells you how to make a frame to support it.
