I did a front diff pinion bearing a while ago in the D1. That didn't sound real good when it let go. Is the noise different when the suspect wheel is under load?
Hi All
been a while due to work commitments hope all is well
I have a 1998 Disco V8 5 speed
driving home last night there was a grinding sound which I felt vibrating through the car the sound appears to be from the front left hand side. I did do the swivel bearings 6 monthes ago and regrease the wheel bearings reinstall all to spec well close anyway. Pads rotors are 6 months old
Im thinking wheel bearing failure.
any thought would be greatfully accepted
cheers WOZ24

I would go with wheel bearing failure....
Our Land Rover does not leak oil! it just marks its territory.......
Highly likely ...and easy to check. Certainly start there.
When turning left or right no grinding sound?
jack up the suspect wheel. disengage CDL ,check neutral.
turn the wheel via the propshaft-diff flange joint.
then by the hub..
you'll feel it.

If you think you're in front on the deal, pay it forwards.
I would also check the driveshaft esp. the end nearest the T/C, Regards Frank.
