When LR stopped making the TDI the tooling was bought by International in Brazil and they updated it and increased it to 2.8 ltrs and added a VN turbo, from all accounts a good reliable unit . If your disco is an auto it should boogy along nicely.
well,
I asked you guys if a disco was a realistic daily driver, you all said yes, even though some of the performance claims for the 300tdi did make me wonder if you were taking the ****.
then I found an unwell example, was it worth fixing, opinion was don't bother, so I didn't
THANK YOU ALL SO MUCH
because of all your advice I didn't hurry
this weekend I became the VERY proud owner of a 1998 disco with an international 2.8 diesel, wasn't even looking for one of those(hens teeth and all that), it just turned up, the car has been built up by the last couple of owners and is a real credit to them both, locker, winch and muddies all present and correct and it drives like a dream, even has a rear uni instead of the donut.
as you may be able to tell I'm a very happy man, just wondered if anyone knows anything about the engine, I've got basic output figures, and to drive I believe them, but does anyone know about reliability, its based on the 300tdi so I'm assuming its basically a tough little thing but are there any other issues caused by the extra 300cc?
thanks as always for any info people may have

MY08 TDV6 SE D3- permagrin ooh yeah
2004 Jayco Freedom tin tent
1998 Triumph Daytona T595
1974 VW Kombi bus
1958 Holden FC special sedan
its a manual, with heavy duty clutch, goes like its scared of its own shadow, and on the run back from Newcastle to Brisbane averaged 8 litres per 100, which I thought was impossible, so if the reliability is still good I may have my perfect Disco, pity Landrover didn't do this to the 300 themselves, would have made a great car even better.
Sounds very nice, enjoy!
....I'm jealous, really

I had one fitted to my Disco in February! Brilliant bit of kit but bloody expensive, especially if you have to drive to the UK![]()
