    Replacement Flares???

Have just bought a 94 disco it's missing a complete flare set on LH REAR.
I will be giving the truck a suspension lift and fitting my 265/75R16 COOPER ST's under it and I want some flares to fit

Can anyone point me in the right direction please?
I really am a bit lost and don't want spend the world on it.

Thank you in advance for any advice!!!!

Would probably help if you told us what type you wanted, standard (which will not fit 265/75-16's without a 'camel cut') or larger ones.

I don't mind really. I think the larger ones would look better.

What is a camel cut? Everyone on this forum talks about it but I don't really understand it fully

    G'day Nico

Larger flares will require cutting of doors and mudguards, big job (scary IMHO). And they aren't cheap. But please yourself

A camel cut as i understand it (haven't done it, only have 225/75-16 STT's) is just taking off the lower part of the rear mudguard edge, making it a larger radius, so the tyre doesn't touch when flexed, google it and see what you see

    Cheers

Hi Nico, welcome to the forum.

as the others have eluded to, the are a couple of different styles of flares, so we will need to know what sort you have fitted to the other 3 wheel arches so we can tell you what sort you have and where you can get a replacement one from.

Re the camel cut, it's where you cut away a small amount of the bottom of the rear wheel arch so when the wheel compresses into the wheel arch when offroading, the tyre doesn't catch on the guard and bend it. There are plenty of topics here about it, search or the 'good oil' is your friend when new here

Okay so I think I'm getting it. I'll keep the ones I got if I can get replacements. That sounds easier than cutting a massive amount of guard off for no reason.

So a camel cut is in effect rolling the guards I can do that easy!!!

So I have a photo not very clear but ill get a new one and post it on Friday when I back at my mates shop pulling the motor. Hope you can get an idea of what type they are.

Thanks guys you are really helping me out

A camel cut isn't rolling the guards, it is lopping the trailing edge off altogether.

Those flares look like they might be Disco II flares.

    I think they're the rubber type D1 flares, STC8498.

I doubt you're going to find one flare on it's own though.

Scouse is on the money, that's what type they are, good luck getting one of them though...

You can roll the gaurds instead of cuitting if you want, but it's easier and neater to cut IMO, and then you don't have to paint, either way you'll need to lose the 'lip'

    Cheers
    Will
