I would and did get a slightly newer one (mine is a '95), because you get the 3.9 over the 3.5 V8 and also 24 spline axles (stronger) over 10 spline.
Hi everyone,
Its been ages since I have been on AULRO...
I am looking at purchasing a 1992 Disco V8 with 240000 k's, its auto and seems in pretty good nick, good tyres, clean interier, bull bar, side steps, HD tow package... Private sale, no rego, $4500 is the asking price (I dont want to pay that much though)
I was wondering if there is anything I should be looking out for?
What are the auto's like?
What sort of fuel consumption do they get on highway?
I cut timber for a living and drive 30 to 50 k's a day through the bush down real rough tracks and through some steep crossings, so I want something relyable that can tow my gear and quad with, so I thought I might get some answers from the people who own, or have owned them before...

Nope. First V8s with 24 spline gear were the late 1993 3.9L models with the old interior and headlights. Everything preceding those were 10 spline. You can tell straight away by looking at the integral flanges on the hubs.
