Your ignition amplifier may be sick, your coil, cap or leads may be damaged. Check inside the distributor cap for water droplets.

Also check that your vacuum advance is working, the rubber diaphragm fails , you can test it by sucking on the hose from the throttle body end, Regards Frank.

X2 Check your vacuum lines. Mine was doing same thing and one hose was off. Ran as ruff as bags before putting hose back on. Goes ok now

Ok I fitted a new Bosch amp and that has made the disco run heaps better, the misfire is gone but it still feels very sluggish and it struggles to rev past 2500rpm, any ideas what could be causing this?

have you checked the timing, get a light on it and try 6 degrees advance as a start, my old classic was set to 9 degrees running 98 octane and went very well

Definitely timing. The Bosch amp triggers a bit differently from the Lucas one. Did you check the air gap in the pickup? Simple adjustment is to unclamp the dissy and rotate the body about 10mm at the vacuum capsule, see how it goes, then get a timing light to check.

Ok mate I'll give that a try but it's hard to find a timing light they don't get used much these days haha. So would the timing be retarded?
