    Wheres my coolant going?

In my 3.9 V8 i slowly lose coolant out of the cooling system (have to top it up
about once or twice a week and the bottle is pretty much empty then) i cant
see and obvious leaks and i cant see any water in the car from the heater core?

Don't think its the head gasket because its still running lol

what have i got left? just go over the pipes again? Its got me a bit worried

    Thanks Luke

is it possible you have a minor leak in your water hoses and your not seeing the leak because when up to pressure and the engine is hot the water is being evaporated before its hitting the ground???

I would inspect all hoses and check tighten the clamps
Our Land Rover does not leak oil! it just marks its territory.......

    Water leak

Check the heater valve doesn't have a slow leak. It's very visible above the engine in the centre of valley.

when you get it home from your next drive,
    coolant system under pressure,
Put it up on a set of ramps and see where the coolant is dripping from.
Green coolant is great for this as its easy to spot, easier than water.
    good luck
P.S. leave engine running when doing this.
Have someone in the car with handbrake applied and wheels chocked.

You may have a pinhole leak in one (or more) of your hoses. If it's squirting a tiny mist then chances are it may evaporate before it lands somewhere and stains.
Green coolant flouresces under UV light. Often a strong UV torch is enough to activate the dried up traces.

Plug in water pump perhaps. Just one of my option that I'm looking into right now as I also have a coolant leak that is proving difficult to pin point.

Check the valley between the heads. My 3.9 would leak at the junction between the heads and the inlet manifold. Seems to be easy to have a manifold to not seat properly. Look on the rear of the valley gasket while parked upwards on an incline. You might be able to feel some coolant pooling there.

My very similar symptoms were the result of hose clamps that appeared OK at idle but slowly leaked when fully pressurised with a hot engine. Just needed a nip up.
