Question Just purchased my first Disco :-D

    Hi all i have a disco 93 model 3.5L v8 Manual.
Loving this car so far and im going to give it some much needed TLC.

iv got some questions i hope some might answer, the engine tends to hunt abit and during long idles it richens up big time, im guessing the O2 sensor (or sensors i have no clue yet cant seem to find them) are getting abit old, does anyone know the part number assuming this model have them, and wheres the sensor at and plug to disconnect.

the suspension is shot and i have ordered this lift kit
2" Lift MATES RATES KIT for Discovery Series 1, Suspension Stuff
i have dobinsons before on my xr8 and they were the best!

im also replacing the exhuast system cat back for the moment, Going 2.5 inch sports with resonator so it wont draw too much attention. will do extractors later down the track, does anyone know of a good extractor option for the 3.5L v8? i know hurricane make them, anyone else?

got plenty to do on it still (heheh and i'll take a crack at the leaks) iv gone over it today and the leaks it has are slow... but DAMN i cannot see where there coming from.

oh and it came with no driver manual... so im still trying to find where everything is, does anyone have a copy, i checked landrovers site and it was a no go. the air con panel has me scratchin my head, i kinda figured out the range selection gear leaver and is there a 2nd resivour for the back window?

thanks in advance for any help.

Welcome aboard. Yours leaks? Ive got a TDI so cant help with the engine stuff but that looks like a good lift kit for the $$$. I bought a Haynes manual of evilbay. And im still looking for the rear resivour. Might be a second pump on the under bonnet one? Should look it up in the manual I spose.

Iv had my 3.5 for 6 months and am still hunting down leaks. None of which are overly concerning though. Despite what people say its really a pretty good unit.

Usually on high mileage V8s the injectors are so old they drool. You can get Bosch gen11 or 111 injectors on ebay from the states quite cheaply and they make the idle much more stable.
Do a search as there are quite a few threads on the topic.

Oh my other big question, does this car have aany kind of on board diagnostic port? And are there any scan tools for it? And if so where is the port?

Thanks philip. I happen to have a box of 8 19lb 4 point injectors in the garage. Brought for the xr8 the connections were different.

Hey Lemo, congrats on the D1.
Mine doesn't have a second resivour but runs a second pump from the under bonnet one - the hose runs through the firewall and up the passenger side front pillar to the rear.

Re the idle I'd go with PhillipA's idea.

I run pacemaker extractors with a 2.5" system and single straight through muffler. Made a noticable difference.

    Good luck with the leaks.....

Small update, i ended up getting twin 2" inch exhuast system, Xforce muffler and 2 hot dogs, Sounds good :-D.

Getting the Maxxis trepador radials tomorrow and awaiting lift kit to arrive.

will throw some pics up, oh and some of the leaks fixed... SOME. then engine ones dont bother me, just a dribble, transfer case leak fixed and gbox and diff leaks are solid now.

also threw a new set of sparkplugs in, smoothed it out some, used NGK's BPR5ES, Cyl 8 was ... TIGHT, rest where good. there was denso in it before temp grade 6 and they were all fouled (hah thats why it idled like crap when cold) and cyl 5 the electrode was almost touching the middle LOL oh well.

Car has seemed to lost some torq down low but picked up in the top end quite pronounced difference. real deep note, Needs a lumpy cam next :-D
