    D1 bonnet catch picture request

Hi all, In the short time with my 97 Disco...it has never had a great closing bonnet, looked misaligned etc. Looking around and pulling apart I found this mess? of guide. Could anyone check and advise if theirs is bent/shaped like this, similar but not as bad or plain straight. Have tried to get a pic off the net of a new one but no joy. Thanks for any info.

    Stumps,
Mine did look like yours and it became near impossible to get bonnet open. I've since binned that made my own out of flat steel thats slightly thicker.
No ore issues, until the other day I broke the plastic end off bonnet pull.

Looks like someone has tried to steal your Disco, using a crowbar to jemmy the bonnet open, Regards Frank.

Hi Rez, Yep mine was getting like that too. All is sweet now once I got to see the correct shape and 4 hours of cursing etc to get alignment right.

Thanks Frank...I never thought of that ...you could be right. I have not had the car long. All reshaped and working nice now.

Has anyone fitted the D2 lever type bonnet release to a D1?
I tugged at the one on 'Fred' D1 and took both sides of the tee handle off, the catch plate has been straightened and lubricated since that happened.

Now, no jokes about being strong in the arm and weak elsewhere please.
