    Transfer Case

    Diso 94 V8i Auto.

I am almost too embarrassed to ask this, but could some one confirm that these are the fill & drain plugs on the transfer case (see pic), there are so many nuts & bolts underneath, I would'nt be surprised to see the petrol cap there some where.

ps: mods am I starting to many different threads or should I stick to one thread and just add to it.

Don't want to wear my welcome out tooooo soon

    Regards
    Rich

Mate, there's no such thing as a stupid Q as far as I'm concerned and I'd reckon most here would concur, only stupid mistakes from not asking

What size socket does that fill plug need? I'm gonna have to do mine early next year, so just thinking ahead...

It's a 1/2" square hole that takes the end of a 1/2" socket bar, Regards Frank.

You can get a 1ltr bottle with a push hand pump a plastic tube with an alloy curved tube at the end that makes filling the diffs and transfer case a breeze. Mine came from Auto Barn. Hopefully someone else remembers the name.

Was it the Tom Thumb 1tr Utility Pump, I got it from Supercheap Auto $18.99 on special, it's excellent.

Done the transfer case and the front diff, the rear drain plug would'nt budge so will bring the sledge hammer home tomorrow.

ps: The L R manual says the diffs hold 1.70ltr, mine took 2ltr before it started dribbling out of the fill hole.

You've done well! The number of times I have seen these transfer cases overfilled because somebody uses the blanking plug for the temp sender( which gives the box about an extra litre...all down my arm) as a fill plug...

The tom thumb pumps are a fantastic thing
