The square box is easily fitted with side entry, the round one isn't ideal for that. Sealing the snorkel isn't that hard and dust sealing on the element is easier with the square box IMHO.
Hi everyone,
New to all this 4WD stuff but getting round to fitting a snorkel to my 300 Tdi and trying to work out if I should stick with my current square shaped filter or try and swap over to one of the cylinder ones from a 200 Tdi or Defender. Main concern is how well the square filter seals up to the snorkel.
Thanks
Christopher

I got one for SWMBOS disco but have been too flat out to fit it... (Hopefully I'll be doing it in the first week of december)

OK thanks, looks like I will be going with the square one at the moment, now all I have to do is find a snorkel that doesn't break the bank![]()
Then don't buy a Safari, I will post pics of my setup with round canister, works well if you plumb the snorkle into the end of the canister and not into the side (like Safari do), Regards Frank.
Pic shown is of 93 V8, system now fitted to 94 Disco 300TDi.

I always thought a round filter would be better so if it helps make your decision any easier I cut the ends off a round filter and square filter and pulled the paper out straight, you would not think it but there is about 50% more filter area on the square filter,
