Thread: stuck rotor button

i have to break them off mario, i know they are exxy but if you pull too hard you will have to strip and repair the dizzy anyhow...
i'm assuming v8 rover one?

Yep, pop the advance springs off, done that before

When you get a new one make sure you get a genuine one - the after market ones play up after a short time and cause havoc with the ignition - don't actually fail but make it run like ****.

I gave Bro in law 3 genuine Lucas rotor buttons as spares ( generous I know )
He has had this disco for a couple of years now, when he bought it I sucked on the vac advance and it won't hold suction. He is one of those old blokes that his the philosophy " that if it's running then all is good."
The mechanical advance works, so he has been driving and towing heavy loads the way it is. Yesterday I was determined to prove my point by taking the dissy rotor off, and undoing the protector plate and actually showing him that the vacuum advance is not operational.
I don't want to use force and break anything, as then I'll be responsible

Get a scorcher bosch unit and be done with it.

Yes Scorcher is the way to go on these, but will cost considerably more than a replacement Lucas rotor. Get out the Dremel and cut it off but be careful not to damage the shaft.
