    Unhappy Windscreen Washer Woes

Getting my current D1 project ready for its blueslip and discovered the windscreen washers aren't working. Thought it might be washer pump, so switched connectors on front/rear pumps. Winscreen washer pump worked off rear washer switch. Swapped them back and checked fuse - all ok. Now, my question is this. When I press the stalk button the wipers work, so is it correct to assume switch is good? If switch is good should I be looking at a relay issue or a wiring issue. Don't have a lot of spare time, so any saved would be awesome. As I said, she's a Discovery 1 and has a 1992 birthday; so 3.5 v8. I know someone out there has the answer - hopefully!

Wow, did not know that - thanks, will try tomorrow. Strange that rear washers and front wipers worked with door open. Gotta love your landies!

Okay, tried again this morning with the doors shut and the same thing. I press the button on the end of the stalk and the wipers sweep, but pump on washers doesn't activate. Does anyone know if this model has a relay for the front washers and it's location? I'd like to check that before I look at wiring continuity.

Do you hear the washer pump running? if so it could be a build up of gunk in the hoes and blocked nozzle?

I hate it when the solution isnt posted, so here goes. There are three connectors that come out of the firewall and head towards the pump. On my D1 there is a black connector plug with a light-green and black wires going to it. This is for the front washer pump. The 2nd connector is white in colour and has black-green and black wires, which is for the rear pump. The 3rd connector has black-white and green-red wires. Where this 3rd connector is supposed to go #@&$ knows, but someone had previously connected it to my front washer pump. Common sense would dictate that the two white connectors would be for the two pumps, so I can see why this might've happened, but we've got to remember that it is a LR aftet all - lol. Anyway, i'm now gushing with water, so that's one rego inspection problem solved. Thanks for your comments guys and hopefully this thread saves someone else the hassle in the future!

The 3rd connector is for the headlamp washer pump, possibly not fitted to yours?
When the front screen washers button is pressed it activates only if the headlamps are on.
