Does anyone have pics of the Safari and the Mantec fitted to a D1 ?
It's not broken. It's "Carbon Neutral".

Are these accurate pictures (culled from Google image search)

    MANTEC

    SAFARI

If these pics are accurate I think I might prefer the look of the Safari.
The Mantec looks a bit more "home made"

    Or does it...

    This Mantec instal looks neater.

    So are the pics correct?

Bottom one is defiantly a mantec. The top one looks suspiciously home brew.

Also check out "south Down", similar to mantec but different.

OK so I have had a look the the car.

(Pictures in my "joining the flock" thread)

It has the square airbox and things under the bonnet have been jiggled slightly to allow installation of the dual battery system.

The location / orientation of various parts makes a SAFARI snorkel the ideal option.

So...... where should I look for a Tdi Discovery Safari Snorkel? I presume there is only one model thereof?

Would love a good 2nd hand one (from price perspective) but if anyone knows a less-expensive source of the genuine item.....

    Thanks

I have wrecked my D1 for the same reason as your Defender, to much cost to bring it up to standard.

There are two types of safari snorkels for the D1, One for ABS and one for non ABS, The SS390HF can be used for both.
    Safari Snorkel System - SS390HF

Here is the picture of the SS390HF. Let me know if you want to see under the bonnet.

    Cheers, David.

The V8 ones are different but primarily in the internal (underbonnet) plumbing. Due to the different type and location of airbox.

There's a difference between early D1 versus later D1, but in the later D1, it only matters for with ABS versus without. (There may be differences by brand)

My snorkel is for a TDi or V8, without ABS

Yes the update D1 with the square airbox is the same for V8 and TDI.
