    Disco dilemma

G'day all have got abit of a dilemma at the moment about which disco I should keep so i thought I'd get some ideas. First one is a '97 300tdi manual with 280km on it, motor getting abit tired, gearbox a little notchy and body has usual paint fade and plenty of dints. It's suffering from the cracking around the body mounts on the firewall and I think it's had a pretty hard life. Theres a mass of wiring under the dash and engine bay from previous owners modifications. On the plus side it's got a Detroit rear and a tru trac front diff. The other is a '93 200 tdi manual with 200km on it. Motor is healthy I just fitted a new clutch rear main and r380 body is immaculate and there's no mods on it. Has never been off road judging by how nice it is underneath. Only real downside is the centre console has fallen to bits and a couple of niggly electrical problems (lock actuators, window regs and mirrors). I've got 2 spare 300tdi discos one with a good motor box and transfer with lpg on it but no spare bits for the 200. I'm torn between pulling the motor and box from the '97 fixing the cracks and fitting the better motor and box etc or just rolling the lockers under the 200tdi. Guess I'm after some opinions to what car would be better in the end. I need to have something done before easter so I can show up a mate in a 78 series cruiser on the Davies plain track! Any ideas would be great thanks!

I would go the 200TDi route and see if you can fit the later centre console, Regards Frank.

i would stick to the 200tdi, less problems with it, more reliable plus for someone over sixfoot i love the idea you have more leg room in the front :P
a second hand console should be available even from the wreckers or the 300tdi with a few mods. only obstacle may be differnet mounting for diffs/axles.

Thanks for the opinions guys I was leaning towards the 200tdi already but jut needed a nudge! Just out of interest do the 200tdi's take gas as well as the 300tdi? I have done afew searches but haven't found anything on the 200's though.
    Cheers
