    I remember travelling through "I think", Bombala, a few years ago and the mechanic there looked like he was a bit of a Land Rover tragic too. Don't know if he'd still be there now, but might be worth a try seeing as its not that far from you.

    Being a several times V8 owner, I'd have assumed a V8.

    My D1 has had;
    1. leaking water pump - parts less than $100
    2. Replaced the instrument cluster - made no difference actually a poor electrical connection at the transfer case.
    3. Breather tube ..or my dipstick tube had fractured (metal fatigue from vibration) at the mounting clamp.
    I will sell you my D1 for $8k. 360,000km and going strong!!! ;-)

    Hi Laura,
    It seems that it may well be a worn out engine after all, not saying that's the case but usually, when a Diesel engine has trouble starting on cold mornings, it's because there is not enough compression to ignite the fuel and sometimes the glow plugs just aren't enough to boost fuel temp. It's about then it requires an aerosol spray called Aerostart with which you spray down the air inlet.

    When it comes to having to use this stuff, it usually means the end is near.
    I certainly hope this is not the case, and someone else can help clear this up for you.

    One question please, how many klm's has it done?
