ABS warning light
Hi, I have a 1997 V8 Land rover discovery. The ABS dash light comes on at start up and then goes off after I start driving. I believe this is the correct as the car needs to get to approximately 7 kph for the light to extinguish.
The problem I have is that the ABS light appears to intermittently come on while driving. It is presently coming on after driving for about a km or so and then stays on. My suspicion is that it is a dirty ABS sensor or an air gap problem with the sensor. I have also read that the ABS relay may cause some problems. Is there a way of testing the sensors? I have also read about ABS codes. How do I access these codes?
Is there an easy fix for the ABS light problem?
Any help appreciated
Thanks Joe

I had the same problem and a sensor was replaced to fix it.

There's lots of info on this problem to be found on this forum. The most important bit of advise I can offer is get it fixed by someone who has the equipment to diagnose the problem and repair it. Mine was also a wheel sensor which resulted in what was essentially a temporary failure of the braking system one day.The abs can get into a state where it will not allow any braking ,not what you want at a busy intersection.
