series 1 tdi300.
the easy way to tell is by belts, serpentine multi rib belts are tdi300. (unless someones done a retrofit)
Hi all. I am looking around for spare parts for my Discovery 1, but i am a bit baffled as to what year I should shop for as i cant figure out what series i own.
S:Europe
A:UK
L:Land Rover
L
J:model code=discovery
G:wheelbase=100", discovery
M:body type=Discovery 5 door
M:engine type=3.9, 4.0 V8 Efi Petrol
3:gear box= zf auto 4 speed or chrysler 3 speed auto
M:model year=1995, calendar period 94/95
A:build in=Solihull UK

X:serial number
The panel says "Built in Feb 94".
But the model year states 95.
Changes intervene in March 1994 it seems, but my car seems to have some more modern interior trim than earlier discos. There is cruise control in my car, but no abs or airbags.
Is my car a hybrid of 200 and 300 series?
What should I shop for when looking for parts?
Thanks for helping.

i have a 12/94 series 1 update 300TDi basic trim with the new dash and fittings, i also do not have ABS or airbags. some of these fittings came a little late and more on higher spec discos
The engine corresponding to the code is the petrol 3.9 v8, which is the one i got.
I thought that the cosmetic upgrades came with the march 1994 revision.
Should i consider my car a pre march 1994 or a1995 model?
V8 3.9 Efi should I add.
sorry, my bad, was talking diesels with some others and slipped a bit....
the bits you need will depend on which bits you need.
the VIN number will be good for your body parts
the chassis number for chassis parts (tho theres very little that changes there)
use the engine number for engine parts and the number (with suffix) from the gearbox/Tcase for the gearbox and tcase.
Too many times I have been caught our ordering bits off of the VIN number only to find that nooo, its not the right bit because someones swapped in a later or earlier model bit to get it back on the road again.
If you can get some photos up of the various bits the local anoraks for your particular model will be able to identify the idiosyncrasies for you.

Thanks for that. I thought I had ended up with some strange hybrid.
I am after a dashboard replacement and some other plastic bits, rods( 24 splines?),
Do i own a 300 or 200 series? When does the nomenclature change?
300 and 200 refers to the diesel engine not applicable to petrol engines![]()
That makes perfect sense. I feel less dumb. Thank you..
