    very broken disco 1

hey all. i dont know how to up load photos on to this forum. but i put my disco into a tree the other day, ripped out the F/L quater panel, and half the grill, also pushed back the suspention. the guy who towed it wreckons over 5k worth of damage before looking at the engine, it was leaking power stearing fluid...

just wondering if any one has done some thing simalar, or knows any one/place that will wreck it for decent $$.

    1992, disco 1, V8 petrol, 197,000 kms, new maxxi's 33" big horn & iron man 2.5"lift.

pm me your phone number if you think you know who can fix it or buy it off me and i can send you the photos of the injuries. its in heathcote, nth victoria at the moment. will need to arrange tray bed transport.

    cheers.

    very sad.

Sadly, straight and completely drivable Discos are dirt cheap these days, so unless you're prepared to nearly give it away (read a handful of hundreds if lucky) then your only option to minimise loss will be to part it out yourself. Good bits sell to others, the rest to the scrap merchants once separated. There is a wrecker in Harcourt who has some Rover stuff from time to time, so perhaps try them if you're not keen on breaking it up yourself - Harcourt Auto Wreckers - Contact Us

Unfortunately these cars are not worth very much these days so any repair is going to cost more than it's worth. You will get more money out of it wrecking it and parting it out your self.

The cheapest option would be to pick up a body off ebay and swap the good bits over. I see whole cars go for as little as $500 at times. Put a wanted add in the market section for a good body. I sent a good one to scrap a couple of months ago as no one wanted it.
    Cheers, David.

Sounds like you have chassis damage so that makes it a right off, as above either buy an engine-less vehicle and swap the bits over or strip it for parts.
I take it its not covered by insurance so if i was in your position i would be taking the parts swap into another vehicle route.

I agree. The V8's (much more so than diesels) are very cheap these days. Buy another and make one car with the best of all the bits.... Keep a few spares for yourself and scrap the rest.
It's not broken. It's "Carbon Neutral".
