Thread: Found this on transfer drain plug

Changed the TC oil yesterday and found a lump of metal on the magnet on the drain plug.

TC gives no symptoms at all, no changes in sound, drives perfectly in hi, lo and locked.

Any thoughts on what it could be?

I did have auto box replaced a couple of years ago and had the TC output shaft ( I think thats the correct term?) replaced- that was about 30000 ago and this is the first time I have replaced the TC oil since then. Maybe this is left over from that job?

I'm far from a mechanic, but it looks like a left over. If it was me, I would just keep driving it.
