striped fuel filter nut? what to do?

    Hi all,

Im trying to get my disco going again and today I replaced the fuel filter only to find that the nut from the fuel tank side is stripped useless!

The Red cirlce is the stripped bit.

Is it possible to undo the thingi under the blue circle?

Or would it be easier to cut the rubber hoses on each end use a different filter, commodore fuel filters have male type ends that when used with a hose clamp could bypass the problem?

Is a commodore fuel filter a suitable replacement for a LR filter?

Im trying to avoid having to pull the solid lines out!

    Thanks for any help!

I wouldn't hesitate to chop the hoses and fit a Z200 Holden filter, after all I use Holden spec pumps in the D1s all the time.

xcluding that the fittings wont fit..

yep go for it the commodore fuel pump is one of the many that can be installed in the pump holder to fix the stuffed pump fault.

pressures and flow rates are all within spec.

    Thanks Guys,

I will get a filter tomorrow and hook it up.

Is there any difference in the filters internals? Should I be more worried about dirty fuel or slower flow, or are they all about the same?

    Thanks again!
Im glad its an easy fix!

my bad, my post should have read

"as the commodore fuel pump is one of the many that can be installed in the pump holder to fix the stuffed pump fault pressures and flow rates are all within spec for the commodore filter"
