Thread: D1 Non Starter.....

1. Before you torch it, offer it to someone with more skills?
2. Learn how to use a multi meter, youtube is probably full of tutorials.
3. Work out how and where to test for spark.
4. check that the ignition coil is getting power when you turn on the ignition key.
5. All that random parts swapping gives you is a migraine.
6. An ignition module upgrade may help you, as much as you need to know is in this thread:

and 7. buy a cheap timing light off ebay, under $40 ones will do.

As much as a pain as they can be (had a few) i luv em.
Got spark at dizzy and plugs.
Coil has power.... 12v on + side & 9v on the other?
Seen your wright up & think i will be going that way too.
Pulled the vaccume advance hose off the fuel pressure regulator and had fuel come out of it, normal?
Done a pressure test on fuel rail and had 36psi, when turning over.
Took the plugs out & had strong smell of fuel.
Got a mate having a look at the wekend......but the Cook's NOT happy getting up & having to take me to work every morning

Try a new set of spark plugs, you might be surprised

No! Fuel pressure regulator is stuffed, you need a new one. Disconnect it for now, run a hose out on the ground and it should run on gas. It's just flooded. You got another engine nearby, steal the fuel reg.

Replaced fuel reg last night and left it till today after work to try start it.
Before i turned it over lifted bonnet & had strong smell of fuel.
Wouldnt any fumes have gone from the engine bay over the day?
Anyway still no life, not even a hint of it starting.
So im thinking now too much fuel in the pots and need to remove it.
What the best way to do this? Take the plugs put & leave it for another day to dry?
Maybe take the fuel pump fuse out and turn the engine over with the plugs out?
Would a fuel problem make the car run like it was missing a plug or 2?
Like i said 1st off..........A small movement of the dizzy to bring the tick over down a little.
And all went pear shape

Sometimes (mostly 1st start-up) I have to remove fuel pump fuse, then starts straight up & quickly put fuse back in. It usually starts perfect for rest of day, don't know why this works for me just does.

I had to call RACQ once & he said it was flooding (I could smell that), so he pulled the fuse & bingo. As I don't have the cash to fix that at the moment (fixing other stuff 1st LOL) I haven't delved to deep into the why's as yet but will be following this thread
