What makes you think it's flooding? Were the spark plugs fuel soaked when it wouldn't fire or does it belch out black smoke?
From your description, it sounds like a fuel under supply problem rather than oversupply.
have a problem that I cant get around.
series1 v8i auto.
last week the car started to run a little ordinary on and off.
Friday whilst at the local tool shop, she would not start.
she was turning over with plenty of kick.
check for spark, **** loads of that but not firing.
racv no help so onto tow truck to my mechanic.
in shop for a week.
pick up on Friday told it was sort of ok but still not at its best.
feel that I have a fuel management problem but don't know how to rectify.
can any one give me some help.
can keep it going at lights with throttle control but when takeing off wants to stall.

1. Get your mechanic to test your fuel pressure, there is a Schrader valve on the injector rail somewhere. Too high = rich, too low = lean.
2. Take the vacuum hose off the fuel pressure regulator, look for leaking fuel. If the reg is stuffed a slow stream of petrol is added to the manifold. The fuel pressure reg is down the back of the motor near the brake booster. I have seen a few fail recently, one just last week.
3. Test the engine ECU temp sender with a multi meter, should be around 330 ohms with the engine hot. It is near the thermostat housing and has a 2 wire plug like an injector.
4. Clean the mass air flow meter (MAF) with a spray can of MAF cleaner from an auto shop. Go carefully, don't spray with force.
yes the spark plugs were wet.
changed them and it ran for a couple of days.
it is now back in the shop with a no start scenario.
looking at replacing the fuel pump.
ok. car is back on road and running better.
we found the fault finally.
it was the coolant temp. sensor.
this made the car seem cold so it would put in more fuel thus over fuelling and then flood. thanks all for your help.
