According to the AVM site the 451 will fit your D1. Products AVM
I still think you're being unwise, but if you do it, I would advise you seriously consider fitting a Salisbury rear end off a pre-2003 defender and regularly run the front drive train, even with the front hubs disengaged just to lubricate the front end.

False brinelling of the bearings should also be considered.
