    EFI always on problem

    G'day

I was told about an unloved, unwanted 1996 Series 1 sitting in a paddock and went for a look. It looked clean and straight with alloy wheels. I ended up buying it and trailered it home behind my trusty Range Rover.
I have sorted out most of the small problems except for the EFI. It is running all of the time, even with the key out, and runs the battery flat in a couple of hours. I pulled fuses out near the battery and put an ammeter across the socket to diagnose the problem.
With the fuse in the Disco starts and runs very nicely.

My guess is that a relay is stuck on somewhere but I am worried that I may pull the wrong things apart and then it won't go again.

Has anyone seen this problem and can give me a few clues as to where to look next? I have done a search for the problem on the forum and the Internet.

    Regards
    Chris

Drivers footwell you are looking for the main EFI control relay, it will be yellow, (like about 8 others ) and will click when the battery or the igniton is turned on. It Will not have purple/white wires going to it, that is the fuel pump relay.

A RAVE disc from the AULRO shop will sort your wiring issues

The ECU lives in the drivers footwell, behind the kick panel. The EFI main relay and fuel pump relays are 2nd and 3rd from the left in the row under the ECU.

For diagnosis nothing beats the RAVE Land Rover workshop manual on CD. Click the "shop" tag at the top of the page to purchase one.
Edit: JustinC beat me to it.

    G'day

Its daylight and I have had a bit of a look at the relays. I am still scratching my head.
I found 4 yellow relays and pulled them all out. They all check OK and with them out there is still 13 amps flowing at the fuseholder near the battery.
I will get a circuit diagram and do some heavy investigation.

    Regards
