FIRST LOOK !!! D1 TDI 300 DUAL ALTERNATOR

So whats different about my dual alternator install ?

Well i kept aircon compressor on original mount but still drive 2nd alternator off aircon 4 groove poly belt.

    And..... cost about $100 AUD

Well done mate! i have thought about a designated alternator for a welder in this position before, you have done a really neat install!

    ok, but why?

    Theres one thing Id pick

you need to make the bracket a Y bracket so you pick up more than one of the timing cover bolts.

good install though, I might revisit the layout I was going to do to fit the endless air to SWMBOs disco.

    i agree BK

the aftermarket alt mounts do have the "y"
    shape you speak of
and i had to tighten alt mounts quite firm to
reduce belt vibration. my stay is made of stainless
though, used it coz it was lying around 5 mm by 25 mm,
alternator is off mitsubishi L300 60 amps,
$50 from wrecker chose as i used it As primary alt whilst
awaiting a new 100 amp marellli. The L300 unit had the closest
front end arrangement to fit in primary brackets with same
    shaft/pulley xtension.
In othe words its a small light Alternator but will fit
    in either position

    regards
