Something weird happened to my D1 today

Ok so this is what happened, I got in at the station as normal to pick up son from care, all was normal she warmed up to 92deg on the guage then snapped back to 88 or so, been doing that since I had it I figure its got a 92 thermostat in it and ill change it when I get chance, ok so I get to my sons care place and turn off the key ummm engine stays on and alt light comes on dim, radio goes off but blower stays on, ok turn key on and off again nothing, so I get out and go inside to get him about 2 mins I come out its off, get in start as normal turn it of to check all good WTF ok so I drive home, heres the interesting thing my temp guage only goes up to about 85 or so and when I stop at the corner to turn it goes down to 82 drive off up to 88, get home idling in drive 82 even as low as 80, so I get the laser thermometer out and sure enough its correct, give the engine a high idle and up to 88, nornal idle down to 82.... hmmmmm WTF IS GOING ON

It's an electrical issue. Probably a poor earth connection. Try between the engine block and chassis. Or battery to chassis. Can't tell you exactly where they are, but sounds exactly like an earth problem.

Could it be Pre ignition? And if so what would cause it?
