    sealant experiences on 300tdi egr blanking plate

    hey guys ive gotta take off the egr blanking plate to weld and drill for a temp gauge and im just wondering what experiences with sealant brands you people have had when bolting the plate back on.

    Copper gasket maker would do the trick nicely IMO.

    When I installed my EGT probe, I put a very small amount of RTV silicone on because it was all I had. However it is not rated anywhere near the temperatures that will be reached at that point. That was a few years ago and it is still sealed OK for me at least.

    Ian from Thermoguard (think he's still got a user name on here) sells a blanking plate for the 300Tdi with a hole already drilled and tapped for an EGT probe.
    It comes with a new gasket.
