Had the same drama. Was told it was ignition module.
Why am I frying ignition coils?
Wouldnt re start yesterday, checked primary 1.2-correct.
Checked secondary which should be 3 to 4000 ohms and it's 7500.!
Ba, sick of this
Had the same drama. Was told it was ignition module.
Ignition module would be my suggestion. Do yourself a favour and search for Bee Utey's Bosch conversion. Much less heartache than the Lucas original.
yep ive done said conversion and it works perfectly and its easy to
I have see that, but I did notice that my dizzy has an earth tab which the mod doesnt
Yours is the 3 wire? The black on just goes to your body/earth strap/earth bolt through the IM.
-update-
Fitted U-Beaut bosch ignition amp and new coil yesterday, started/ ran/ timed to 8 degrees, close up shop to go for test and nada.
No spark.
****ed off
WHat coil? I found most brand new ones are failures straight from the box.
Distinguished Gentlemen,
Is there a way to test the ignition module (bosch bim024) or standard lr?
Also, would an ignition coil with a secondary circuit of 4850 ohms make my engine not start?
Cheers
I checked my stash of used coils and around 5K ohms is common on the cheapie no-name brand electronic coils. Land Rover OEM Bosch is around 9K but I doubt if your low resistance is the reason for your no-go. I've put the module diagnosis up on my thread here.
