Diff Swaps Between ABS and Non ABS

I'm looking at swapping complete front and rear diffs from a non ABS Disco (brake included) to an ABS Disco. For legality's I'd like to retain the required ABS parts.

To do this do I only need to retain swivel housings on ABS car for ABS sensors?

What about rear how does that one work with ABS sensors?

Ideally a complete diff and housing swap would be preferred but would like to know what I need to retain from the ABS diffs to keep it legal.

What year are the non-abs parts?

When the axles were redesigned to incorporate ABS they went metric and apart from the bearings/seals/rotors not much in the hubs interchanges.

Imperial axles were also 10 spline. Metric can be either but later metric (mine are from a 97 disco) are 24 spline.

Sorry all parts are 24spline and in this situation the ABS model is 1996 and non ABS model is 1997.

Might be all plug and play then.

I've been running 97 ABS axles in my non-abs rangie for about 7 years now. I just used some 16mm plastic rod to plug the front sensor holes. But you're looking at the opposite situation.

Correct with the front swivel housing, you should only need the top pin only, obviously CVs must have the ABS ring, which I think all post 94 front ends have.

The rear axle stubs have an additional cut out in the mounting flange and matching hole in the axle housing to accommodate the ABS sensor and the discs have the reluctor/tone ring incorporated.
A rear diff from a 96 may well have all the necessary stub and disc type already with you only needing fit your sensors.

Easier to just swap diff centre,s .Quicker than the whole housing

I was thinking of complete diff swap as I know the history of the 1997 diffs and I had recently renewed all brakes and bearings.

If the extra effort is not worth doing the full swap at once I could also do new wheels bearings and swap brakes over at a later stage.
