Thread: distributor cap and rotor

hello
i replaced the rotor and cup with a new one.
when i started the engine, i heard the rotor touches the contact points.
at start it was quiet noise and after seconds it settle down.
when i drove around i still heard the noise.
i have found chips inside (like dust) and clean it.
is it common (fitting)?
is it O.K?

I bought them from simonbbc (powermax).
the red rotor and blue cap for discovery V8 95
