    What size nut is this

    Hi all, what size socket do I need for this crankshaft nut

    1993 Discovery 1 3.5l
    2" Lift, Cranked HD Trailing Arms
    31" Maxxis Mudders
    Tons of Radios, Tons of Spotties

    Looks old enough to need a Whitworth (BSW) spanner or socket.

    Try measuring across the flats of the nut and picking a snug fit from SAE or AF socket set. Next best would be to head down to an old experienced tool shop and see what they have.

    Wait, this is on a Disco 1?
    Will be metric then, what motor?

    Oops its the crank pully on a 3.5 v8 build date 1982 so RRC I think

    OK, nobody leave the room, who's got my RAVE CD set?

    Stand easy, I found it.
    No mention of crank pulley\balancer bolt sizes though.

    So, back to my original suggestion of measuring across the flats of the bolt heads and trying the same size socket or ring spanner in AF sizing.
    That's about the best I can offer sorry, never worked on one of those engines.
