Additional: I like the 300tdi motor, & since having the auto d2 like that option, but also like the manual for fuel economy.
Thoughts anyone?

G'day all
I'm thinking of buying a D1 as I've had it with all ths problems with the d2.
I previously had a deefer 110 with the 300tdi & it was a good reliable unit until I wrote it off.
I realise there will be as many opinions as there are options but here goes:
Is the se7 the only one with abs & airbags or does the se get them too?
200tdi, 300tdi, or v8 (3.5 or 3.9)?
Auto or manual?
TIA
Alex

Ive got a 98 ES7 300TDI auto and love it. Great economy if driven kindly.
Dave
I've a '97 300tdi auto which has been great for both city and country driving.
VERY INTERESTED in following the replies to this post..... I'm still trying to determine whether to go the TDi300 Auto or the later model TD5 Auto..... interesting that u previously had a TD5 and now wanting to go back to a TDi300. That might make my decision a bit easier.....
Room in the TD5 & TDi is the same except for the Cargo area from what I can see and then theres' the engines which from what I have read, the TDi is very reliable with people getting 1,000,000kms out of them, not sure how reliable the TD5 is though. My Cousin has a '98 TDi Auto with Driver's Airbag & this has got me looking for one. The only issue is has had is the Hazard lights coming on over big bumps which he hasn't solved yet...
I've had bad luck with my td5. Maybe I'm being premature as I (used to) really like it - having traction control is a real plus. Don't judge all td5's by mine, as the D2 forum will tell you many stories of them going for ever, but after blowing 3 turbos in 6 months (the last after only 380km) I just want to move on.
Hi-Jack; I have the same problem although mine is related to the central locking (hazard lights come in and the only way to stop it is to pull the central locking fuse.) Does your cousin have the same problem?
Cheers, Adam.
Back to the subject on hand, I like my '97 auto 300TDI, so does my wife. But we have had our fair share of issues. It is a 17 year old car!
