    Snorkel now fitted

Got my ebay special snorkel , $136.00 landed , but no fitting instructions , great. Well it took 3/4 hr to fit the snorkel, and 3/4 of a day to plumb it to the motor. Had to weld in reduced tube each end of the canister filter. " can't believe how much it took to eliminate the porosity in my welds, gas less mig. ...blocking the end and using a very bright light..got it all in the end....
My original set up had a pipe after the cleaner and before the MAF. Going to what you you normally call the PCV Reading bee- utey's past posts it seems this wasn't necessary and put it back to the plenum..see pic
.is this pipe meant to have a reducer in it?.
Seems to run ok as is ..Gary

    G'day.
    I like that.
I want to fit one to Me Disco, I looked at the ebay sight but I am not sure which kit I need.

Do you have a part number or serial number for the kit that you purchased ?

Here's some pics of how I did mine, no welding, just used PVC Plumbing fittings (downpipe 90mm. and drainage), fitted originally to my V8 Disco now fitted to my 300TDi 5+ years and no deterioration, Regards Frank.

Parts used were 100mm floor waste collar, 100mm to 90mm reducer and 90mm elbow to suit angle about $10, Regards Frank.

Thanks Frank, I saw those pics when you first posted and I kept them in a folder for future reference.

But I am still not sure which one to order from ebay.
Those advertised to fit tdi or later 3.9 's, are they basically the same thing with a few fitting changes ?
Could I order anyone of them and adapt it to my 3.5 efi can type air cleaner ?

I would imagine that whatever kit you get they would all be similar, I suppose they have been copied (by the Chinese) from one of the more expensive brands, I got my snorkel from Goannawhere, a mob that usually takes out a double page ad in the 4WD mags, but that was over 5 + years ago, the snorkel fitted now to my Disco 300TDi is a Safari, (only because it was already fitted when I purchased the 300TDi, the fittings were the same size from the first snorkel to the Safari, hope that helps, Regards Frank.

    Thanks.
This kit could probably fit but might be cheap chinese plastic.
    How would you know.
Safari make one for a 3.5 but they are over 500 bucks.
Might have to shell out I am afraid.

Just had a thought, I have not checked what Airtec have in their range, I will go see.

Hi, this is the kit I brought, 4x4 Snorkel KIT Land Rover Discovery 1 300 Series 3 YR Australian Warranty | eBay
$115.00 freight free? And then another 18.00 to get it to WA ? Beats me... It has a 3 yrs warranty and the kit was very high quality. I have a lot left over as after mounting the plastic bit nothing else would work as my air cleaner was not the factory job...it looks identical to the one you pictured and was a QLD Seller and out of a NSW factory. Had a template and no other instructions . But after laying it all out made sense .i ordered the ABS one even though I don't have it, thinking the out let might be closer to the front and suit my set up better...I did upset a big red back living behind my inner guard though....Gary

That look identical to the Safari kit for Abs fitted models but also fits none Abs. This is to suit the square air box not canister.
    Cheers, David.

Thanks Gary, I just took time out to order one.

I might just get a second hand air cleaner can to modify rather than my original.

PS; anyone know what size that large concertina hose is and who might carry it ?

    Ta.
