Fuse? Dodgy part (someone on here a few days ago had 2 dodgy new pumps)? Wiring fault?
Disconnect the multiplug and see if you have any volts there with ignition on
Hi guys I changed fuel pump on my 3.9L v8 today and now have no power to pump what could the issue be

Thanks for quick reply will see if I have power to plug in morning and let you know. Thanks again I'm new to European cars I having bit of difficulty with everything being backwards lol. Took me half hour to find the damn bonnet release was looking everywhere on drivers side
Melted connectors. There are multiple joints in the loom where damage can be caused by high current flow to a dying pump. The most frequent failure is in the pump housing connector plug. Next is the connector between the body loom and the tank loom directly above the rear muffler/resonator. The wire through all connectors and the fuse block is white with a purple stripe, easy to spot. Replace the fuse too.
Fuel pump power will of course only be present for 1-2 seconds after switch on and after cranking. It shuts down on stalling.
What Bee Utey said.
On mine the first connector along the loom after the Fuel Pump was burnt out.
From memory it was a common failure on the D1's.
Awesome thanks heaps guys. Unfortunately weather doesn't permit me to to do anything today so won't get chance till Saturday. Will update you guys on how it goes
Some Discos (late models) had a link lead between the main harness & the fuel pump. I used the pump end off one on my RR here:
P38a fuel pump electrical connector - same as any other LR ?

Thanks for your help guys. I followed the harness from tank back cleaning connections and testing power as I went and turned out to be the fuel pump relay
Heard a rumour that that fuel pump draws it's power from a wire on back of the alternator but can't find any fact to this. Does anyone now if this is true or false
Eventually all electric power is supplied by the alternator, so in a sense it's true, just that there's only one big fat brown wire taking power to the rest of the electrics. It's the circuitry between the alternator and the fuel pump you need to trace. I assume you know the value of a good workshop manual? Click on the shop tag above and get a RAVE manual on CD to suit your car. Wiring diagrams will show you the looong path that power takes from the alternator to the pump.
