G'day fellow Land Dammers,
Finally got round to getting me a Landy, I was after a D1 300TDI auto, but couldnt get one for below $5000 (in Central Queensland) that hadnt been to the moon and back, so I settled for this, a 98 V8 auto, just over 200K on the clock, 2" lift, 265/7516 muddies, plenty of tread left, saffari snorkel, ARB compressor and rear locker, ARB winch bar, plus another 98 disco for parts, all for $2000! I'v spent $250 on it sorting the leaks, changed all the oils and filters, everything works, except the A/C, but the spare one still has gas in it, so hopefully what ever part has failed, if any, I can get it off that one. Just got to get a seatbelt for the drivers seat and a rear view mirror and hopefully she'l be ready for some abuse!
First on the "list" is to fab up some rock sliders and a rear bumper bar, then see if I can source a 300TDI motor.
Also got the offer on a pair of VE SS comondore ute seats, there comfy as, any idea if they would fit in the front?
If anyone needs any parts, shout out.
cheers all.

Thanks guys I'l look into that, found an interesting you tube clip from a mob called Simtek UK/Body Logic retro fitting a 2.7 TDV6 motor into an auto D1, bit expensive for the conversion kit, but looks awsome!?

Do I still need an engineers certificate if i'm not changing the seat rails? was hopping the seats would be a direct swap, but knowing my luck!! Is the engineers certificate just for insurance purposes etc, I'm not from Australia so no too sure of the laws.
Cheers
Without actually seeing the mod, I would have a Mod Plate guy at least look at it. I had an old CF Bedford truck and replaced the drivers seat with a Jap one from the same year (1978). The only thing I did to get it to fit was drill (re-locate) 2 holes in the rear seat mount and still needed a Blue Mod Plate (Qld) for rego and insurance. It really was just a paperwork (and money) exercise, but it still had to happen.
If you do go down the VE seat path, post up some pics and the story.
Good luck with the mods and enjoy your Disco. Wish you the best of luck. Post any stories for us - sounds like interesting times ahead.
Thanks again guys, on closer inspection the VE seats are gona need some mods to make them fit, but i'm still up for the challenge! Will keep you posted.
Good news is that the Disco passed the RWC with just needing a new A-frame ball joint and two sway bar bushes! Now just gota save for the rego!!![]()
