[quote=Dougal;2165287]Have you got an official source for that? Because I can't find any specifics.
The 300tdi auto RRC's were the same old 265Nm and 83kw. I can't find any official information for any other 300tdi equipped vehicles.
This 97 tdi disco in the UK (auto) is the same ol 83kw:
Power: 111 hp (83 kW) @ 4,250 rpm (versions with
122 hp (91 kW) @ 4,250 rpm (versions with automatic transmission)
Torque: 195 lbf·ft (264 N·m) @ 1,800 rpm (versions with manual transmission)
210 lbf·ft (280 N·m) @ 1,800 rpm (versions with automatic transmission)
Production: 1994–2006
Used in: Land Rover Defender, Discovery, and also various Brazil-assembled Ford pickup trucks.
I thought this was common knowledge, even Wikipedia got it right, The info is in most Disco manuals as well, Regards Frank.
Are you sure that information is not for the EFI 300tdi's?
I can remember my 1998 300tdi auto owners manual giving the same figures for both.
Not that the extra horsepower is even useable due to the auto box!
Cheers

Wikipedia is hardly a reliable source...
Some info out there suggests the 122bhp was only for the later semi-electronic engines which didn't make it to AU.
For later 300 TDi Discos with the autobox, Bosch EDC 'fly by wire' throttle control was used, combined with changes to the fuelling profile and turbo boost, giving useful increases in power and torque. These engines were designated 23L.
Google pulls up nothing official. I've trawled that to death in the past.
The only things that will help are copies of disco sales brochures or fuel pump calibration records. They appear elusive.
I do have fuel pump calibration data for my 300tdi auto RRC, it is 265Nm and 83kw.
All the posts about the 122 bhp version mention an ECU and drive-by-wire throttle:
(although actually the 300Tdi as fitted to the Auto Discoverys is the most powerful version of the 300Tdi Land Rover produced - with 122 bhp compared to the standard 111bhp)
.... then unlike the manual version, you can have the engine chipped.
As unlike the manual Discovery (and any other version of the 300Tdi in Defenders and manual Range Rover Classics) the Automatic version has an ECU (and not just an EGR one) - hence any info on 'tweaking' the pump is not applicable to the Auto Version.
People like Jeremy Fearn, JE Engineering and Allisport (I think) all offer a chip replacement either with or without the use of a bigger intercooler.
This chip with put the power output upto around the 130 bhp mark, as well as increasing the torque output - thus making it better for towing.
With a big intercooler you would be approaching 140 bhp and again recieve a helpful boost in the torque.
(Depending where you are I also know a bloke Nr Coventry who can chip the engine for you - and will be cheaper than those mentioned above).
These chip (and intercooler) replacements will make the performace of the Auto 300Tdi quite presentable.
Now I'm gonna have to change the gearbox after all this discussion![]()
