I think i might to try the pump tweak. But I'll do the whole diapraghm job. Just have to find bit of time to install egt gauge. I can live with it till then. I taught that there was maybe a known fact and quick fix for that. But it seems it's all about getting more air and fuel in there.

As far as revs go my legs are still driving my old hj60 by the looks of it and im not revving it enough. As far as i notoced between 1100 -1200.

Hijacking? I'm running out of popcorn here It's all good. Everyone is entiteled to their own opinion and defence of it. At the end of the day everyone is giving their suggestions with good intentions! That 's what these forums are all about anyway!

Wait up a minute, I read your original post as if the car had changed recently? Like something has broken or unadjusted itself, has it always been like this and you're just looking for a bit more performance?

    Cheers
    Will

Thought I'd be constructive for the OP hahaha

    Glad you are enjoying the show. (-;

The 200tdi I had always felt I was on the verge of stalling when taking off compared to previous cars I had owned, and I can imagine the 300tdi is similar. Not a big fan of having to slip the clutch a bit to get moving so you will end up finding that sweet spot to get it away.

It's always been like this since i bought it few month back. I want to do bit of a pump tweak. And ofcourse i want extra power out of it. Don't we all?

I think i read somewhere that they made them sluggish of the start to comply with emmission laws. Maybe with wear of the engine (355000 km) it just got worse to the point where it started lagging so much.

They are sluggish because they have to build boost. Attempting to make them move better off idle will just make more smoke.

So is this thread about fixing a problem or improving performance? They are two different things. Problems need fixed before you consider any performance improvements.
You also need to fit boost and EGT gauges.

Why is boost gauge so important? I know about egt and why. But boost?

How do you know? Have you driven another 300tdi?

To know if your turbo is working and how well it's working.

When i got my 110 300tdi it was terrible off the mark, i had to drop the clutch while the revs were up for it move off the line, i put up with this for about 6 months, others that drove it thought it was terrible and would take the whole green light to get through an intersection. Whilst searching the net the easiest gain was simply turning the diaphram[which was on the weakest side of the cam lobe] after that 10 minute adjustment the car was totally different to drive and went alot faster off the mark-way more user friendly.
Of course i have since changed the turbo and bigger intercooler but the BEST thing ever was fitting an auto nearly 200,000ks ago, for me its much better off road[detroit and trutrac], on road and towing[extra tranny cooler and twin thermos].
Go turn the diaphram after marking your original position

Not meaning to continue a hijack but the auto allows left foot braking to build up the revs to 1800 rpm when stopped at lights and then lift the foot and off mine goes pretty fast for an old truck of this weight.
