3 GOES TO START
Hello All
My 97 D1 3.9 starts virtually first time every time when cold. But after it's been running for a couple of hours, if I then try to restart it takes 3 goes to start, and remains thus for the rest of the day.
And apart from the fuel issue (300k per tank around town, but I have a heavy foot) it goes really well, smooth and powerful. Will a general service and tune up eliminate this issue or do you folks think it is something specific?

I had a similar issue with a VR commodore some years ago.Turned out to be the fuel pressure regulator failed internally and was drawing fuel in through the vacuum line. Thus when hot the mixture was too rich and it required a fair amount of cranking,as opposed to when cold it started first hit.
Simple check just remove the vacuum line from the regulator and look for signs of fuel.
