Hi all,
The outside lever for the rear door doesnt operate anymore.
The inside lever doesnt operate either...think the childproof lock is on.
Have pulled most of the inards apart hoping I can get it open from the inside, but it doesnt want to budge.
Anybody got any ideas as top how I can get it open.
Thanks
cheers

I had the same issue and it was the little tiny spring in the door lock mechanism that snapped. I had to replace the entire lock mechanism, but it was cheap $20 and easy 40min job.
In my case the outside handle didn't work, but it opened with the key. I had to turn the key in the lock and that engaged the linkage on the handle. (interesting thing was that it also didn't lock, it was un-lock, but due to handle not engaging you could not open it anyways
Before I figured out what it was I also changed the actuator, but it was unnecessary.
Hi Ron,
Yep Its the same one I was having-still having problems with.
Its really ****ing me off.
As far as I can tell, the spring is in good nick.

Actually, you wont know the condition of the spring until you pull the entire mechanism out. That requires disconnecting all of the linkages and pulling out the luck assembly.
So spend some time pulling it out...then you will know whats wrong, there are only few parts that can go bad. Good luck
Thanks Modingo.
Thats my next plan of attack. I'm on hols for 2 weeks so I'll take it all off early next week.

Hi Gazza,
I had a similar problem but what it turned out to be was a build up of dirt/dust around the rear handle/lock mechanism. To solve that I took the Land Rover emblem off above the number plate and squirted carby cleaner with those thin rigid plastic tubes around every where I could get it into. That freed the mechanism and then I could open the rear door.
About a year prior to this I replaced the spring in the locking mechanism of the rear door and created a tutorial.

Hope this helps.

OK....
Went and poked around the mechanism today and the spring is definately r.s.
Had a look in lrparts, but it doesnt show it.Rang my parts supplier(BMI) and they didnt/couldnt tell me what part number it was..think they use the same lrparts site.
Anyone know where I can get one in outerwest Sydney.Dont want a wreckers one,it probably wont last.
Thanks

Hi Gazza,
It may be a bit late (i've been away this last week) but I would try TRS spares in Padstow (I know not close to you). The other option is AllFourx4 in Kotara and they could post it down. I got mine from the UK but when my back door went you could still open the door with the key so it wasn't as critical.
Mike
Havent had time to get to the back door.
Hols almost finished..
Hopefully tomorrow I will have a chance to have a look at it again..
