I will back what bee utey has said. Earthing is a really common issue that will cause symptoms similar to this. Not only on D1s, but many cars, I have seen it heaps. No offence, but I think you need a new auto electrician, because one worth his weight would gone straight to it being an earth issue as soon as you described it.
For mine, I added an extra earth from each of my batteries to the body, but between the engine and body is probably the better of the choices. From the battery was just simpler for me to do, I'm lazy like that.
You will find one extra cable or strap will improve things dramatically. If you can, check over the existing ones, especially the straps. There are a couple in some not so obvious places, so the Rave is usually pretty helpful there.
