Not having a owners manual to answer this problem, can a remote control unit for a ser1 be reprogramed and if so how? I am about to buy one if they can be

I reckon you'll need the security number for the vehicle to get it programmed. If you don't have it a dealer should be able to find out what it is.

Have a read of this Land Rover Addict Forums
Suggest that the two button remotes can only be programmed by the dealer.
Also check the frequency is correct on any unit you buy.

The two button remotes need someone with a "test book" computer or nanocom - its a 5 minute job if you have the right gear.
Someone on the forum may have it or the specialist LR guys like British Offroad could do it.
I recently bought two new fobs from Advanced Keys in the UK - got the two with postage for less than one here and paid $25 for KLR in Windsor NSW to programme them and re-programme my existing one
