    V8 came in at $1,192.75. (17ish/100ks )

V8s are like bums, they are everywhere and cheap. Petrol is cheaper than diesel (where I live anyway). LPG conversions reduce this even further. I have never had to pay for servicing a diesel so I don't have that info. IMHO, adding all the pro and cons up, you would have to do a heap of K's in the TDi to wind up in front of a V8 given that fuel economy appears to be the only real advantage.
Very well said mate, this whole diesel is the way to go argument is just so untrue.I have had 2 diesels before a 200tdi and 300tdi and could not wait to get rid of them!! i will agree great fuel economy(easy when you go as fast as a snail on smack in reverse) they stink, sound like farm machinery, smokey ****boxes,

Diesel last tuesday up here was 11c a liter more than petrol. And i can say no tdi will sound as good as a V8 with decent pipes.

I like the v8 and the diesel for different reasons. Both are good in their own way.If i could design an exhaust that made a 300tdi sound like the v8,in less than a year i could buy clive palmer out
