Silicon hoses, Aluminum Radiators are the worth the $

Ok so am in need of replacing my cooling system hoses as they are on the way out and would like to install another heater and the current heater hoses have been cut and joined.

I have been looking at silicon hoses from Roose Motorsport Roose Motorsport, Performance Silicone Hose Kits
they do what looks like a complete kit for the 300tdi disco as well as a turbo hose kit. If I got one I would probably order both at the same time to save on postage.

But just wondering if silicon is the better option for a land rover sure you see them alot in high end sports cars but a sports car is quite different to a 4wd, Its alot of coin that could be spent better elsewhere I feel as looking on lrautomotive the price of hoses is quite alot cheaper.

Also while we are on the subject of cooling systems may end up replacing radiator have been searching around and many people seem to be saying stay away from aluminum radiators and you can get a 5 core radiator from natrad personally I am thinking the natrad radiator as I have dealt with them in the past and never had an issue.

Looking for your peoples thoughts is it something that is worth the outlay or not.

For turbo/intercooler, yes I would go silicone. I changed mine to silicone. I doubt you will notice any difference in performance, but they are less likely to cause problems in the future as well.

Do you mean silicone for cooling systems hoses as well? If so, I don't see the point really. I guess they might be less likely to fail than rubber, but I would be happy sticking to rubber hoses for cooling system. Depends if you want to replace them all or just heater hoses. A set of heater hoses only is not very expensive.

I use silicone for turbo and good quality OEM rubber hoses for cooling. Got a new copper core in my radiator from AutoCooling, 5 Hall St, Yarraville 9699 1444. They do nice work and my TDI now runs high 70's low 80's all day around town, only hit low 90's on long hills pushing fairly hard.

Stick with OE rubber coolant hoses and from what i have read the alloy rads are not ideal for an offroad vehicles.
