Well, that's just the way we say it 'round here...
BTW, how much for 1L in Australia ?
We pay the equivalent of about 2.25 AUD

You will always get more from the first half of the tank than you do the 2nd (going by the gauge) .
And not all long range tanks hang down, some have wings and are mostly square so fill the void between the chassis rails better.

    I can beat that!

I my Camry, I can drive 190km and the fuel gauge still shows that the tank is full, so It tells me that I have not used any fuel at all.

As others have said, just because the needle is at the halfway mark does not mean the tank is half full.

How far you drive before the gauge shows half full is the worst possible way the measure fuel consumption. Telling people how far you go on a tank is not much better.

You need to carefully fill the tank, drive until you need more fuel and carefully fill to the same point. Adjust the odometer reading to compensate for the error that almost every vehicle has and then do the maths to work out how many litres you used for each 100kms driven.

Do that several times and then we will be able to tell you whether you are getting better than average fuel consumption.

What you have told us is no use at all in making a judgement about your fuel consumption.

Yep it's a gauge calibration thing...all d2's the same. Cynically it's probably for the sales process - test drive all arvo and gauge only moves a little,,,

Are these average figures (i also have a callasped rear pinion bearing)?
That's about right,i have been using using E10 95 and have got an extra 40-45 kays out of the tank. And that's doing the school run and other around town sort of thing. i get around 425-440 out of a tank.

If you read some of what the diesel fans on the forum say, you'd be lucky to get out of the driveway before running out of juice which is just bull**** the V8's are not as bad as lot of people on here will tell you.

I also have a 2007 BF GT-P falcon that uses around the same as my disco, and the falcon has a far more modern engine and is in a much lighter car.

    E10 95 $147.5 Diesel $1.55 at my local servo.

Is your tank 89 litres as mentioned in post #3?

If so then 425 km on over 80 litres means you are easily pleased.

Unless you do 425km and fill up when the gauge is near the halfway mark. In which case, I am impressed.

How far you go on a tank doesn't tell me much about your fuel consumption.
