What did I do with my D1? ...
Leant it out to a mate for a week or two![]()
Changed oil, then got it stuck in a bog hole.
Sometimes it pays to get the depth stick out before you just try drive through![]()

Got to work yesterday and had a massive oil pool under the disco and large drips down the street. Oil pressure switch was leaking like a siv. Ended up getting a fuelmiser one from repco for now it stopped the leak at least. The old one had an o ring where this one has an alloy washer, dunno what seals better. My cousin (hilux owner) loves taking the **** out of legs under a landy, I keep telling him he's jealous because I got 4 times the 4wd for 1/100 of the price as his lol
Cheers Jim

I did mine(oil pressure switch) a few weeks ago.
Been chasing the only leak on my Tdi for a while now.
My mechanic made a comment a while before that, when he asked me if I had any oil in it!
My oil pressure switch was leaking from the front of the plastic cone shaped body. Assuming it's original, then 20-ish years, you'd expect the plastic to deteriorate in that time.
I gooped it up with a heap of Permatex silicon(some orange looking stuff I have sitting about), smoothed it out, tucked it into the front of the cone, into the spade connector .. leak stopped(kind'a).
Turns out there is a small weep from the oil pump - block gasket too(will try to do a fix) and I think a small bit from the oil filter rubber gasket too. Oil settles on top of the diff over time, so it looks like the diff is leaking.

All these discos are giving me a heart attack!

They were my first targets, so I got new ones of both.
After I cleaned it all up, they weren't showing signs of leaking, so left them alone for now.
I know of a rubber o ring(oil thermostat connection??) that hardens up and loses shape, but no leak from there.
(I have a plan to change the radiator and will change both those hoses at the same time).
Changed the crankcase to cyclone hose too, which also helped, old one was rock hard.
So the last I checked it was the gasket mentioned and the oil filter showing signs of weeping now.
